Lagartera Embroidery and Stitches from Spain
(by South Australia Embroidery Guild) This Spanish technique looks like Blackwork to me (Spanish stitch). The Lagartera-style (named after the town) can be documented to the 16th century. A particular feature of this technique is that outlined satin stitch may be accompanied by motifs of drawn thread. Both traditional designs and contemporary pieces have been included, along with historical pieces. Complete illustrated directions. Paper, 88 pp., 8 1/2 x 11. ISBN 1863513086
